Allegra Garcia McCoy is an Austin-based filmmaker and artist. She was a featured presenter at the first ever the Pecha Kucha Night in Austin, TX, Vol. 1 on May 10th 2007. Consumerism (2006) and Corporate (2006) showed at Optophonique at Salvage Vanguard Theater on March 10, 2007. Her video art Corporate (2006) showed at the 20 MB art exhibition at the Mass Gallery thru Oct. 13 – Nov. 9, 2006. Allegra’s documentary Supernatural (2004) was selected for the Faces of Austin multimedia program which screened from Oct. 13, 2005 to May 2006 at the Austin City Hall. Also, her documentary Apostrophe (2004) screened at the Reel Women 2005 SXSW Showcase at the Hideout Theater March 13-14, 2005. She studied under and assisted Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmakers Paul Stekler, and duo Ellen Spiro and Karen Bernstein. Allegra has worked for feature film editor Sandra Adair, A.C.E. as an Apprentice Editor. She joined the Reel Women Board of Directors in May 2005. Allegra is currently a member of the Motion Pictures Editors Guild.
